What is the process for dental veneers?


An initial exam is needed to begin the process. The examination includes teeth evaluation, x-rays, and mouth and teeth impressions. To ensure your veneers will fit comfortably, your dentist will remove ½ millimeters of enamel. New impressions are made and sent to a laboratory to create the veneers.


Once your veneers arrive, additional trimming may be needed to ensure they fit correctly. Once the veneer is ready for application, a special cement is used for bonding. A light beam then cures and hardens the cement. You may be asked to follow up a few days later to evaluate how your mouth responds to the veneers.


Is there special maintenance involved?


Dental veneers can be treated as natural teeth. Depending on regular brushing, flossing, and dental cleanings, they can last 7 to 15 years. Avoid foods and drinks that stain. Also, protect your veneers by avoiding hard food and candy.
